The ability to navigate accurately & confidently in bad weather could save your life.
- Orientating your map
- Reading your map - symbols & map scales
- Taking grid references
- Compass bearings (taking bearings & using bearings)
Route selection is an important aspect of navigation.
When there is no obvious track to follow the ability to read contours is an import navigational skill
Level 2 - Advanced one day course £165.00;
- Understanding contours - reading the ground
- Using linear features (handrail navigation)
- Advanced compass work including "aiming off" & re-section
- Use of pacing & timing to measure distance
- Correct use of a GPS in mountain navigation
- The use of an altimeter as a navigational tool
